Google Consent Mode lets Google tags (Analytics, Ads) adapt their behaviour to each visitor's consent choice. In the app, open Google Consent Mode from the left menu.
Basic vs Advanced
- Basic — essential, privacy-safe measurement with minimal setup. Google tags stay fully blocked until the visitor consents; no data is sent for visitors who decline.
- Advanced (recommended in the app) — more accurate insights and better ad performance. For visitors who do not consent, Google receives cookieless, privacy-safe signals that allow conversion modelling.
Which to choose: if you run Google Ads and care about conversion reporting, Advanced recovers measurement you would otherwise lose. If your policy is strict data minimisation, choose Basic.
The yellow warning: "enabled but has not been configured yet"
This warning means the toggle is on but the configuration was never saved. To fix it:
- Choose the Google Consent Mode Type (Basic or Advanced).
- Confirm the Google Consent Mode toggle shows Enabled.
- Under Connect IDs, enter the IDs for the Google tools you use: GTM ID (
GTM-XXXXXX), GA4 Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX, in GA4 under Admin → Data Streams), Google Ads Conversion ID (AW-XXXXXXXXX). - Click Save Changes — the warning disappears and Consent Mode becomes active on your storefront.
